Baumwolle u. hat 710,000 Ew.; 2) Hauptstadt hier, am Cauvery, Festung, Fort mit Graben, in welchem Krokodile sind, lutherische Kirche, viele Hindutempel, Paläste, mehre Fabriken; großer Waffenplatz der Briten; hat 30,000 Ew. ohne die Besatzung.
