Beghard, Berthold (Berthold von Rohrbach), behauptete im 14. Jahrh., Christus sei am Kreuze völlig verzweifelt, u. der Mensch könne auf Erden so vollkommen werden, daß er weder zu beten noch zu fasten brauche. Er mußte seine Irrthümer zu Würzburg abschwören, u. als er diese zu Speier wiederholte, ward er dort 1359 verbrannt.
