Centesĭma (röm. Ant.), 1) der 100. Theil von einem Capitale, alle Monate gezahlt, also so v.w. 12%; daher Centesimae binae = 24%; 2) jede Abgabe von 100, vgl. Zins; 3) C. rerum venalium, Abgabe des 100. Theiles von allen in Italien u. Rom verkäuflichen Dingen. Durch Augustus, 7 n. Chr., eingeführt, erhielt diese Steuer mit der Zeit manche Modification.
