Colonist

Colonist (lat. Colōuns), 1) der, welcher ein Feld, Grundstück bebaut, es sei solches sein eigenes od. fremdes; Colonus partiarius, s. u. Colonat. Coloni ecclesiarum, Bauern, welche die Kirchenäcker zu bestellen haben. Coloni fiscales (C. dominici), frohnpflichtige Unterthanen, die auf den Kammergütern die Feldbestellung zu verrichten haben. Daher Colonatĭcum, der Dienst, welchen der Colonus dem Grundherrn zu leisten hat; 2) der Bewohner einer Colonie.
