Daphnīn

Daphnīn, von Vauquelin entdeckte organische Base in der Rinde der Daphne slpina, D. Mezereum u. D. Gnidium; bildet weiße, durchsichtige, glänzende Schuppen, ist geruchlos, äußerst bitter u. scharf, nach Gmelin mäßig bitter u. herbe, neutral, schmilzt in mäßiger Hitze, verbreitet auf glühenden Kohlen stechend riechende saure Dämpfe, löst sich in kaltem Wasser schwer, leichter in heißem, am leichtesten in Alkohol auf; ist giftig u. bildet mit Säuren krystallisirende, bitter schmeckende, leicht lösliche Salze.
