Pinehas, 1) Enkel Aarons, Sohn des Hohenpriesters Eleasar; durchstach einen, offen mit einer Midianiterin Unzucht treibenden Israeliten nebst jener, zog dann gegen die Midianiter u. erschlug alle Männer nebst fünf Königen u. Bileam; er bekam als Antheil die Stadt Gibea, wurde nach seines Vaters Tode Hoherpriester u. bewog die elf Stämme gegen den Stamm Benjamin zu ziehen, um an demselben Rache zu nehmen. 2) P., zweiter Sohn des Hohenpriesters Eli; war mit seinem Bruder Hophni Priester in Silo, lebte aber dort unkeusch u. wurde im Kampfe gegen die Philister erschlagen.
