Poinciāna (P. L.), Pflanzengattung (nach Poinci, Generalgouverneur der Isles du vent in der Mitte des 17. Jahrh. benannt) aus der Familie der Papilionaceae-Caesalpinieae, 10. Kl. 1. Ordn. L.; Arten: P. Gillesii, schlanker Baum in Südamerika, mit gelben, in Enddoldentrauben stehenden Blüthen; P. regia, auf Madagascar; P. pulcherrima, ist Caesalpinia pulch.
