Purpurifĕra, Schnecken, welche zum Theil Purpurfarbe geben; sie haben eine kurze aufwärts gebogene Rinne, od. einen nach hinten gerichteten Ausschnitt im Rande der Mündung. Dazu die Gattungen Buccinum, Eburna, Harpa, Monoceros, Purpura, Terebra (alle mit Ausschnitt), Cassis u. Morio (mit Rinne).
