Saltoun

Saltoun, Lord S., geb. um 1780, trat 1797 in die britische Armee, kämpfte als Capitän 1806 u. 1807 in Sicilien, machte dann unter Moore den Feldzug von 1808 u. 1809 mit, war bei der Expedition nach Walcheren 1809, ging 1811 nach Cadix u. blieb bis 1814 mit der Armee in Spanien, wo er 1813 Oberstlieutenant wurde, wohnte der Schlacht von Waterloo bei, wurde 1825 Oberst u. Adjutant des Königs u. 1837 Generalmajor. 1841 schiffte er sich als Befehlshaber von Verstärkungen nach China ein u. commandirte daselbst eine Brigade bei dem Angriff u. der Eroberung von Chin-Kiang-Fu. 1846 wurde er Generallieutenant. Er schr. u.a.: Memorials of the troubles in Scotland from the year 1624 to the year 1625.
