Speaker (engl., spr. Spihler), 1) Sprecher, Redner; 2) der Sprecher (Präsident) des englischen Parlaments; das Parlamentsglied, welches beauftragt ist die Verhandlungen zu leiten u. vorkommenden Falls für das ganze Haus das Wort zu führen. Im Oberhause ist es stets der Lordgroßkanzler, im Unterhaus wird der S. von dem jedesmaligen Hause gewählt. Er hat seinen Sitz mitten im Saale. Vgl. Parlament S. 701.
