Spinsters (engl., Spinnerinnen), in England der, selbst in öffentlichen Urkunden gebrauchte Name der Mädchen, welche keinen Mann gefunden haben; nur Töchter hoher Adeliger (bis zum Viscount herab) bleiben von diesem Namen verschont.
