Anthracīn

Anthracīn (Paranaphtalin), C10H12, aus dem Steinkohlentheer durch fractionirte Destillation u. Abkühlung u. Digestion des sich ausscheidenden Gemenges von A. u. Naphthalin mit Alkohol, in welchem das A. unlöslich ist, dargestellt; es ist dem Raphthalin ähnlich, schmilzt aber bei 180° u. siedet über 300°; sublimirt schon unter dem Siedepunkt u. condensirt sich zu einer krystallinischen Masse; löst sich nicht in Wasser, wenig in Alkohol u. Äther, leicht in Terpentinöl.
