Asgill

Asgill, Johann, englischer Rechtsgelehrter, leugnete in einer Schrift, Lond. 1700, daß ein Mensch, der fest an Jesum als Todesüberwinder glaube, sterben könne. Man sah seine Schrift für Religionsspötterei an, verbrannte sie öffentlich u. schloß den Verfasser vom irischen, später auch vom englischen Parlamente aus. Er st. 1738 im Gefängniß, worin er wegen Schulden 30 Jahre gesessen hatte.
