Asham (spr. Ässchämm), Roger, geb. 1515 zu Kirby-Wiske, in Yorkshire; Lehrer der griechischen Sprache zu Cambridge; Erzieher der Königin Elisabeth, 1550 Legationssecretär bei dem englischen Gesandten Richard Morysine in Deutschland, kehrte 1553 nach England zurück u. ward unter Marie u. Elisabeth Secretär für die lateinischen Briefe: er starb zu London 1568. Seine Werke (darunter Report and Discourse of the Affairs and State of Germany; Briefe, Lond. 1576, Hannov. 1707), herausgeg. von I. Bennett, Lond. 1761.
