Caustĭcus

Caustĭcus (lat., v. gr. Caustisch), 1) ätzend, brennend; 2) spöttisch, mit scharfen Worten. Daher Causticum antimoniale, Spießglanzbutter, s. Antimon; C lunare, s. Höllenstein; Caustĭca 1) (Caustische Mittel), s. Kanterien; 2) (Math.), so v.w. Brennlinie. Causticĭtät, 1) Eigenschaft zu ätzen, od. auf der Zunge zu brennen; 2) Bitterkeit, Schärfe im mündlichen od. schriftlichen Ausdruck.
