Clearinghouse

Clearinghouse (spr. Klihringhaus), börsenartige Anstalt in London, welche zur Regulirung des Wechselverkehrs dient, indem daselbst die Londoner Bankers die auf sie gezogenen Wechsel durch Eintausch derselben gegen solche, die auf andere gezogen sind, einlösen, die Differenz aber in Baarem od. in Noten der Bank von England ausgleichen. Die Bevollmächtigten der Bankhäuser, welche mit diesen Operationen (Clearances, spr. Klihranses) betraut werden, heißen Clearingclerks (spr. Klihringklerk). Auf diese Weise werden täglich ungeheure Summen ohne große Mühe umgesetzt.
