Kutangs), 1) Arrondissement im französischen Departement La Manche, 261/4 QM., 138,000 Ew. in 10 Cantonen; 2) Hauptstadt darin am Zusammenfluß der Bulsard u. der Soulle, Sitz des Bischofs der Diöcese La Manche, Civil- u. Handelstribunal, Theologisches Seminar, College, Kathedrale, Wollmanufacturen, Baumwollenspinnerei-, Band-, Sammt-, Tischzeug-, Spitzen- u. Pergamentfabriken; Handel mit Getreide, Vieh, Butter, Flachs, Pferden, Geflügel u. Wachs; Geburtsort des Abbé St. Pierre; 7700 Ew. C. ist das Constantia der Römer im Lande der Unelli u. war im Mittelalter Hauptort der Vicegrafschaft Coutantin.
