Libellus

Libellus (lat.), 1) kleine, wenig Blätter enthaltende Schrift, z.B. L. delatorĭus, Denunciationsschrift; 2) Verzeichniß von Sachen, so L. auctionarius, schriftlicher Anschlag einer Auction an einem öffentlichen Orte; 3) Klageschrift; daher Libelliren, mit schriftlicher Klage einkommen; 4) Gesuch- u. Bittschreiben an die Kaiser; diejenigen, welche sie empfingen u. in die Acten eintrugen, hießen Libellenses; 5) Sendschreiben der Kaiser an den Senat, od. öffentliche Verordnungen an das Volk; 6) schriftliche Einführung der Appellation (s.d. III. A) a) dd); 7) (L. famosus), Pasquill, s.d.; daher Libellist, Verfertiger von Schmähschriften.
