Pecock

Pecock, Reginald, geb. um 1390 in Südwales, studirte in Oxfort, lebte dann einige Zeit am Hofe des Herzogs von Gloucester, wurde 1431 Hauptpfarrer an der Michaeliskirche zu London, 1444 Bischof zu Assaph in Nordwales u. 1450 zu Chichester; weil er die Bibel über die Tradition stellte, die Infallibilität der Kirche in Frage zog, manche Irrthümer in der Kirchenlehre nachwies u. mild gegen die Lollarden war: mußte er 1457 seine Behauptungen widerrufen, u. nachdem 14 Bände seiner Werke verbrannt worden waren, wurde er selbst aus dem Hause der Lords gestoßen, aus seinem Bisthum gesetzt u. in das Kloster Thorney in Cambridgeshire geschickt, wo er starb; er schr.: The represser of ouer myche blamyng the clergie, 1449; The book of faith 1450, herausgegeben von H.
