Piddington

Piddington, Henry, geb. im südlichen England, widmete sich frühzeitig dem Seedienste u. wurde Vorsteher des Museums der ökonomischen Geologie von Indien, Untersecretär der Asiatischen Gesellschaft u. Präsident des Marinegerichtshofes in Calcutta. 1839 fing er an Forschungen über den Charakter u. die Richtung der Stürme u. Orkane auf den indischen u. asiatischen Meeren anzustellen u. schr.: Memoirs on the law of storms in India; The horn book of storms, 1844; The sailor's horn book for the law of storms.
