Siestrzencewicz

Siestrzencewicz, Stanislaw, geb. 1731 in Zablutów bei Grodno, war in seiner Jugend preußischer Offizier, wurde katholisch u. 1762 Priester in Wilna, nach der ersten Theilung Polens apostolischer Vicar in Weißrußland u. 1783 Erzbischof von Mohilew; später zog er als einziger Metropolit der Römisch-Katholischen Kirche nach Petersburg. Er war sehr tolerant, liebte Künste u. Wissenschaften u. st. 1826 in Petersburg. Er schr.: Untersuchungen über den Ursprung der Sarmateu Slawen etc., Petersb. 1812; Geschichte der Krim, 2. Aufl. ebd. 1824; Forschungen über die Entstehung Rußlands, ebd. 1818.
