Morindin

Morindin (Morindagelb), C28H15O15 od. C72H20O20, gelber Farbstoff aus der Sooranjee, der Wurzel von Morinda citrifolia, durch Ausziehen mit Alkohol dargestellt; er krystallisirte aus der alkoholischen Lösung in kleinen, concentrisch gruppirten Nadeln, welche sich wenig in kaltem, etwas. mehr in heißem, verdünntem Alkohol auflösen. In Äther sind sie unlöslich, in siedendem Wasser lösen sie sich, beim Erkalten scheidet sich das M. gallertartig aus, in Alkalien löst es sich mit orangerother, in concentrirter Schwefelsäure mit purpurrother Farbe. Mit essigsaurem Bleioxyd gibt die Lösung von M. einen scharlachrothen Niederschlag; beim Erhitzen zersetzt sich das M., es bleibt eine kohlehaltige Substanz zurück, während sich rothe Dämpfe entwickeln, welche sich zu schönen rothen Nadeln verdichten. Dieser Körper heißt Morindon, C28H10O10; er löst sich nicht in Wasser, wohl aber in Alkohol u. Äther, Alkalien u. concentrirter Schwefelsäure. Das Morindin ist vielleicht mit der Ruberythrinsäure u. das Morindon mit Alizarin identisch.
