Morinda (M. L.), Pflanzengattung aus der Familie Rubiaceae-Coffeaceae-Guettardeae-Morindeae, 5. Kl. 1. Ordn. L.; Arten: M. citrifolia, ostindischer Baum, mit fleischigen, saftigen Steinfrüchten, welche in heißer Asche gebraten, genossen, auch gegen Gallenkrankheiten, Asthma u. Schwindsucht gebraucht werden; M. royoc, südamerikanischer Strauch, mit eßbaren Früchten u. gelber Wurzel, woraus Tinte bereitet wird; M. bracteata, in Ostindien, baumartig, mit gelblichen, gewürzhaften, bitteren, gegen Würmer gebrauchten Früchten; mit den Wurzeln färbt man Leinwand blaßroth.
