Breviarĭum Alariciānum

Breviarĭum Alariciānum, die Sammlung aus den wichtigsten Quellen des Römischen Rechts, (s.d.), welche der westgothische König Alarich II. 506 zu Aire in Gascogne durch eine Commission römischer Juristen für die unter seiner Herrschaft lebenden Römer fertigen, von dem Referendarius Anianus (s.d. 3) unterschreiben u. durch den Comes palatii Gojarich an die Grafen übersenden ließ. Vor dem 16. Jahrh. hieß diese Sammlung auch: Liber legum, Lex Romana, Lex Theodosii, Lex mundana (zum Unterschied vom geistlichen Recht). Das Gesetzbuch ist für die Römische Rechtsgeschichte von großem Werthe. Es enthält einen Auszug aus dem Codex Theodosianus (s.d.) nebst einer Anzahl Novellen späterer Kaiser, außerdem eine Bearbeitung von Gajus Institutionen, einen Auszug aus Paulus Sententiae receptae, dem Gregorianischen u. Hermogenianischen Codex u. eine Stelle von Papinian. Neben dem Texte läuft eine glossenähnliche Interpretation. Es sind viele Handschriften des B. A. vorhanden; vollständige Ausgaben lieferten Joh. Sichard, Basel 1528 u. G. Hänel, Lpz. 1856. Die einzelnen Stücke sind öfters gedruckt.
