Bridschport), 1) Stadt mit Seehafen in der Grafschaft Fairfield im Staate Connecticut (Nordamerika) an der Mündung des Pequannock in den Long-Island-Sound; malerisch gelegen, schön gebaut, sehr gesund; große Gewerbthätigkeit, lebhafter Handel; Eisenbahn nach New-York, New-Haven u. Pittsfield; tägliche Dampfschifffahrt nach New-York; hat 12 Kirchen, 3 Zeitungsexpeditionen u. 9000 Ew. 3/4 Stunden davon liegt Iranistan, ein in maurischem Styl erbauter Palast, der Wohnsitz des bekannten Barnum; 2) Postamtsort[303] in der Grafschaft Fayette, im Staate Pennsylvanien, am rechten Ufer der Monangahela, sehr gewerbthätig; 2000 Ew.; 3) blühender Postamtsort in der Grafschaft Harrison im Staate Indiana, am Ohio; Handel mit Bauholz, Schiffsbau. Erst 1849 angelegt, aber rasch emporblühend; 800 Ew.
