Explosion

Explosion (v. lat.), die energische Kraft, welche Gasarten äußern, wenn sie aus einem gebundenen Zustand in einen freien übergehen u. elastisch werden, od. unter Erhöhung ihrer Elasticität, bes. durch Erhitzung, ebenso auch tropfbar flüssige Stoffe, wenn sie Gasform annehmen, u. wenn solche durch einen Widerstand in ihrer Ausdehnung gehemmt sind, durch Besiegung dieses Widerstandes, in Steigerung ihrer Kraft, od. bei Verminderung. des Widerstandes. Sie wirken auf die Körper selbst, welche zu Leistung des Widerstandes unzureichend werden, in dem Verhältniß, wie ihre Kraft eine überwiegende ist, als Stoßkraft. Das Schießen mit Feuergewehren, Sprengen der Minen, Eruptionen von Vulcanen etc., sind E-en. Daher Explosionsfläche, die Ebene des oberen Kreises des Minentrichters.
