Galactīn (Galactine, Chem.), wachsähnliche Substanz aus dem Safte des Kuhbaumes (Galac todendron utile, zur Familie der Urticeen, in Südamerika einheimisch), bildet eine durchsichtige, blaßgelbe, glänzende Masse, welche, in der Wärme Faden ziehend, in der Kälte hart u. spröde ist; man erhält es, indem man den eingedampften Saft mit Äther auszieht u. den Äther verdampfen läßt.
