Gregŏras, Nikephoros, geb. 1295 in Heraklea in Pontos; lehrte in Constantinopel Rhetorik u. Astronomie, nahm an den bürgerlichen Unruhen lebhaften Antheil u. st. nach 1359 im Gefängniß; er schr.: 'Ιστορία ῥωμαική, Geschichte des Byzantinischen Reichs in 38 Büchern von 1204–1359 (die ersten 11 Bücher herausgegeben in H. Wolfs Hist. Byzant. script. III, Bas. 1562, Fol.; 24 Bücher von I. Boivin, griechisch u. lateinisch, Par. 1702, 2 Bde., Fol.); Astronomische Schriften, Briefe (wovon 6 herausgeg. in Mustoxydes Συλλογὴ ἑλλην. ἀνεκδότων, Vened. 1817, u. 11 im 3. Bd. von Boissonades Anecd. graec.) u. Grammatische Schriften.
