Parthenŏpe, 1) die erste der Sirenen, von ihrer zarten Mädchenstimme so genannt. Zu Neapel, welches zuerst selbst Parthenope hieß, war ihr Grab, an welchem der Athenienser Diotimos ihr zu Ehren Fackelwettrennen stiftete; 2) einer der Asteroïden, zwischen Mars u. Jupiter, wurde von de Gasparis zu Neapel am 11. Mai 1850 in der Waage entdeckt, steht zwischen Lutetia u. Thetis u. hat das Zeichen Parthenŏpe [1], od. nach Gould Parthenŏpe [1]. In ihre Bahn greifen die Bahnen von Asträa, Flora, Vesta, Irene, Iris, Juno, Victoria, Eunomia u. Pallas wie Kettenringe ein, während die Bahnen von Metis, Ceres, Hebe, Egeria u. Hygiea isolirt liegen. Ihre mittlere Entfernung von der Sonne ist 50,7 Mill. Meilen u. ihre Umlaufszeit um die Sonne: 3 Jahre 307,1 Tage.
