Philippĭdis, Daniel, geb. in Miliäs am Pelion, um die Mitte des 18. Jahrh., studirte in Frankreich Theologie u. die allgemeinen Wissenschaften, lehrte hierauf eine Zeit lang an dem Gymnasium in Jassy u. später an den gelehrten Schulen Griechenlands selbst. Er übersetzte ins Neugriechische den Justinus, Condillac's Logik, Brisson's Physik, Fourcroy's Chemie u. Lalande's Astronomie, u. schr.: Γεωγραφία νεωτερική, Wien 1791, 1. Bd. (die Erdbeschreibung von Griechenland enthaltend); Ἱστορία τῆς Ῥουμουνίας (Geschichte der Moldau, Walachei u. Bessarabiens), Lpz. 1816; Γεωγραφικὸν τῆς Ῥουμουνίας, ebd.; Ἀπόπειρα ἀναλύσεως τοῦ νοουμένου (Pasigraphie), ebd. 1817.
