Rack

Rack, 1) eine Strecke in einem kleinen Fluß, welche wegen einer Krümmung eine andere Richtung als die erste bekommt; 2) eine Vorrichtung von Tauen od. hölzernen Kugeln, womit die Raa am Mast befestigt wird, u. welche zugleich das Auf- u. Niedersteigen am Mast erleichtert; die kugelförmigen Hölzer heißen die Kloten (Rackkloten) u. die zwischen ihnen perpendiculär angebrachten Holzplatten heißen die Schleten (Rackschleten). Die bloßen Tauracken werden auch Schmierracken genannt.
