Ribs (Rips), 1) glattes, dichtes, baumwollenes Zeug; die Kette besteht aus zwei- od. dreifädigem Zwirn, der Schuß aus viel feinerem einfachem Garn wird stark angeschlagen; daher bedeckt er die Kette ganz u. das Gewebe erscheint wie aus lauter dicht neben einander liegenden Längsschnürchen (Rippen) zusammengesetzt; 2) (Reps), in ähnlicher Weise gewebte Seidenzeuge.
