Strengnäs, 1) Voigtei im schwedischen Län Südermanland; 2) Stadt hier, am Mälarsee, ist Bischofssitz, hat einen Dom (1291 gegründet) mit dem Begräbnisse Karls IX., ein von Gustav Adolf 1626 gegründetes Gymnasium, etwas Getreidehandel u. 1500 Ew. Hier Reichstage 1473 u. 1523, auf letzterm wurde die Kalmarische Union gelöset u. Gustav Wasa zum König ausgerufen.
