Aphrid: Aphrid (Min.), 1) so v.w. Schieferspath, zu den kohlensauren Kalken gehörend; 2) (Schaumkalk, Schaumerde), im Dolomit, seltener im Gyps, in schiefen, rhombischen od. rectangulären Säulen, od. in krystallinischen Massen u. lose verbundenen, schuppigen Theilen; silberweiß ins Gelbliche, stark perlmutterglänzend, undurchsichtig, etwas abfärbend; Härte = 1,1, Gew. = 2,53; mit Gummi angerieben gibt er dem Papiere einen schönen Silberglanz; man bedient sich auch desselben zum Überziehen der Gypspasten, zum Putzen von Edelsteinen, Perlen, Spiegeln etc.
