Dallas (spr. Dälläß), 1) Grafschaft im Staate Alabama (Nordamerika), 41 QM.; Flüsse: Alabama-River u. dessen Nebenflüsse Cahawba-River u. Cedar- u. Mulberry-Creeks; Boden hügelig, fruchtbar u. gut angebaut; Producte: Baumwolle, Mais, Bataten, Hafer. Dem in früherer Zeit während der Sommermonate sehr fühlbaren Wassermangel ist neuerdings durch zahlreiche artesische Brunnen (einige bis zu 900 Fuß tief) abgeholfen worden; die Tennessee-Alabamaeisenbahn durchschneidet die Grafschaft; Dampfschifffahrt auf dem Alabama-River; 1850: 29,727 Ew., worunter 22,258 Sklaven; Hauptstadt: Cahawba; 2) Grafschaft im Staate Texas, 431/2 QM., vom Trinity-River durchflossen; Boden sehr fruchtbar mit schönen Waldungen; Producte: Baumwolle, Mais, Weizen, Bauholz, Rindvieh; 1850: 2743 Ew., worunter 207 Sklaven; Hauptstadt: Dallas; 3) Grafschaft im Staate Arkansas, 40 QM., im W. vom Washita-, im O. vom Saline-River begrenzt; Boden fruchtbar; Producte: Baumwolle, Mais, Bohnen, Erbsen, Bataten; 1850: 6877 Ew., worunter 2542 Sklaven; Hauptort: Princeton; 4) Grafschaft im Staate Missouri, 27 QM., vom Niangua-River durchflossen; Boden fruchtbar; große Prairien u. Waldungen, Producte: Mais, Weizen, Hafer, Bauholz; Rindvieh, Schweine; 1850: 3648 Ew., worunter 88 Sklaven; Hauptort: Buffalo; 5) Grafschaft im Staate Iowa, 27 QM., vom Racoon-River u. Beaver-Creek (Nebenflüssedes Des Moines) durchflossen; Boden fruchtbar; Hauptort: Adell; 6) Hauptort der Grafschaft Gaston im Staate Nordcarolina; 7) Hauptort der Grafschaft Dallas im Staate Texas am Trinity-River; 8) Hauptort der Grafschaft Polk im Staate Arkansas; in der Nähe reiche Silber-, Eisen-, Blei-, Zink- u. Steinkohlenlager; 9) Dorf in der Grafschaft Wisconsin im Staate Iowa, am Pekatonica-River; in der Nähe reiche Blei- u. Kupferminen.
