Kruman (Krumlow, Krumpe), 1) Bezirk im böhmischen Kreise Budweis 6, 9 QM. mit 25, 150 Ew.; die Bezirkshauptmannschaft umfaßt 18, 6 QM. mit 49, 800 Ew.; 2) Stadt darin an der Moldau; Sitz einer Bezirkshauptmannschaft, eines Steueramtes, Bezirksgerichts u. Bezirksstrafgerichts; Erzdechanteikirche (1340 erbaut), großes Schloß mit Felsengefängnissen (worin Kaiser Wenzel von Heinrich IV. von Rosenberg 1402 gefangen gehalten wurde), drei Stock hohe Verbindungsbrücke. Damhirschpark, Bibliothek, Rüstkammer, Ökonomisches Institut (seit 1800), Physikalisches u. Naturalienkabinet, Botanischer Garten; Hauptschule, Mädchenschule, Arbeitsschule für verwahrloste Knaben; Tuch-, Kasimir- u. Papierfabriken, Schiffbau, Bergbau etc.; 5500 Ew. Dazu gehören die am linken Ufer der Moldau gegenüber liegende Stadt Lodron u. 6 Vorstädte. Die fürstlich Schwarzenbergische Herrschaft K., von welcher K. den Hauptort bildet, führt den Namen eines Herzogthums K.; 3) (Kromayen), Marktflecken bei Gefäll im engen Thale des Großen Kamp, im Obermanhartsbergkreise in Österreich unter der Enns.
