Pearson (spr. Pihrs'n), 1) Jon, geb. 1610 od. 1612, studirte Theologie in Cambridge u. erhielt mehre Pfründen, welche er aber als Royalist 1643 verlor; 1650 wurde er Pfarrer in London, nach der Restauration Archidiakon von Surrey, Kaplan des Königs, Vorsteher des Jesuscollegiums u. Professor der Theologie, 1673 Bischof von Chester u. st. 16. Juli 1688. Er war ein vorzüglicher Prediger u. Patristiker, der tüchtigste Gegner der Nichtconformisten u. schr.: Exposition on the creed, Lond. 1659, u.ö., zuletzt Oxf. 1820, 2 Bde.; auch im Auszug für Schulen, zuletzt 1810, lat. von Sim. A. 1673. 2) George, geb. 1751 in Yorkshire, war erst Arzt in Deneaster, dann in London, dann Oberarzt u. Professor der Therapie am St. Georgespital daselbst u. st. 1828.
