Tollĭus

Tollĭus, Hermann, holländischer Philolog, geb. 1742 in Breda, wurde 1767 Professor der Geschichte, Beredtsamkeit u. Griechischen Sprache in Harderwijk u. ging von da nach Amsterdam, wo er an P. Burmanns Stelle an das Athenäum kam. Der Statthalter Wilhelm V. wählte ihn zum Erzieher seiner Kinder, u. hier erprobte er sein Talent als Geschäftsträger; 1809 wurde er Professor der Statistik u. Diplomatik in Leyden, später der Griechischen u. Lateinischen Sprache u. st. 1822. Er gab heraus des Apollonios Homerisches Lexikon, Leyd. 1788; Sammlung politischer Schriften in Bezug auf die Vereinigten Niederlande, ebd. 1814–16, 3 Bde.
