Hitchcock

Hitchcock (spr. Hitsch'-kock), Edward, geb. 1793 zu Deerfield in Massachusetts; widmete sich den akademischen Studien, wurde 1816 Director der Deerfield Akademie, 1821 Prediger zu Conway in Massachusetts, 1825 Professor der Chemie u. Naturgeschichte am Amherst College u. zum Staatsgeologen für Massachusetts, 1844 zum Präsidenten u. Professor der Naturtheologie u.
