Schmaltz, Moritz Ferdinand, geb. 18. Juni 1789 in Stolpen in Sachsen, wo sein Vater Acciseinspector war; erhielt seine Vorbildung seit 1798 auf der Fürstenschule in Meißen, studirte seit 1894 in Leipzig u. später in Wittenberg Theologie, wurde[313] dann Hauslehrer daselbst, 1814 Pastor in Wehlen bei Pirna, 1816 Pastor bei der Evangelischen Gemeinde Augsburgischer Confession zu Wien u. zugleich Referent im Protestantischen Consistorium, 1819 Pastor zu Neustadt-Dresden, 1833 Hauptpastor an der Jakobikirche zu Hamburg u. 1855 zugleich Protoscholarch u.
