Thesaurus

Thesaurus (v. gr.), 1) Schatz von Geld u. Kostbarkeiten; daher Thesaurarios, Schatzmeister, s. Argentarius 2); auch 2) bildlich eine große Menge, Überfluß, z.B. Th. meritorum s. supererogationis, in der Katholischen Kirche die überflüssigen guten Werke der Heiligen, s.u. Supererogatio; 3) Ort, wo ein Schatz aufbewahrt ist. Vorrathshaus, s. Schatz 2); 4) Sammlung verschiedener u. zerstreuter Bemerkungen, bes. Monographien aus einer Wissenschaft, Werke aus alten Sprachen, deren wenige darin vorhanden sind etc., so ein Th. theologicus, Vened. 1762, 16 Bde.; Th. theologico-philologicus, von Menthen, Amsterd. 1701 f., 2 Bde., Fol.; Novus t. theologico-philologicus, von Hasäus u.
