Vismĭa

Vismĭa (V. Vandel), Pflanzengattung aus der Familie der Hypericineae (Vismieae) Elodeae, 18. Kl. 4. Ordn, L. Arten tropische Sträucher u. Bäume; V. laccifera, Mart., in Brasilien, liefert ein, dem Gummigutt ähnliches, als amerikanisches Gutti in den Handel kommendes, röthlich gelbes Gummiharz, welches aus der Rinde gewonnen wird; V. guianensis, bes. deren Varietät; V. guttifera Pers. (Hypericum lacciferum L.), liefert ein ähnliches Gummiharz (Goma lacra), welches als Purgirmittel u. gegen Hautkrankheiten dient. Es wird theils aus der verwundeten Rinde, theils aus den Beeren gewonnen; V. sessilifolia cayennensis Pers., V. micrantha Mart., in Brasilien, u. V. latifolia Chois., in Guiana, geben ähnliche Producte.
