Both [2]

Both, 1) Jan, geb. um 1610 in Utrecht, Landschaftsmaler, bildete sich unter Abr. Bloemaerts u. in Italien nach den Werken von Claude Lorrain u. st. 1651 in Utrecht. Man hat auch radirte Blätter von ihm. Er malte vorzugsweise italienische Landschaften, von denen sich einige im Museum zu Berlin u. Dresden finden. 2) Andreas, Bruder des Vorigen, geb. 1609 in Utrecht, ging mit diesem nach Italien u. nahm sich vorzugsweise die Werke P. van Laar's zum Muster u. malte Portraits, Genrebilder u. Thierstücke. Er staffirte häufig die Werke seines Bruders u. ertrank 1650 in Venedig. Man hat von ihm auch Radirungen in Kupfer, theils religiösen, theils genreartigen Charakters. 3) L. W., Pseudonym für L. Schneider u. W. Förster.
