Licking, 1) Grafschaft im Staate Ohio (Nordamerika); 31 QM., vom Licking River u. dessen Nebenflüssen durchflossen; sehr fruchtbar; Producte: Mais, Weizen, Hafer; Rindvieh, Schafe, Schweine; Steinkohlen; die Ohio Central Eisenbahn, die Columbus-Lake Erie Eisenbahn u. der Ohio Kanal durchschneiden die Grafschaft; 1850: 38,846 Ew.; Hauptstadt: Newark; 2) Städtischer Bezirk darin, am Ohio Kanal; 1500 Ew.; 3) (L. River), Fluß im Staate Kentucky, entspringt auf den Cumberland Mountains in der Grafschaft Floyd, fließt nordwestlich u. fällt nach einem Laufe von 45 Meilen, Cincinnati gegenüber, in den Ohio; bis Falmouth (ungefähr 10 Meilen stromaufwärts von seiner Mündung) ist er für Dampfboote schiffbar; 4) (L. River), Fluß im Staate Ohio, wird gebildet aus dem North, South u. Racoon Forks, welche sich bei Newark vereinigen; fällt bei Zanesville in den Muskingum River.
