Glas. Die Ohio Central Eisenbahn durchschneidet die Grafschaft; 1850: 18,006 Ew., worunter 164 Sklaven. Hauptstadt: Wheeling; 2) Grafschaft im Staate Kentucky, 30 QM.; Flüsse: Green River u. Rough Creek, große Waldungen; Producte: Mais, Hafer, Kartoffeln, Tabak; Eisen u. Steinkohlen; Dampfschifffahrt auf dem Green River; 1798 organisirt; 1850: 9749 Ew., worunter 1132 Sklaven; Hauptstadt: Hartford; 3) Grafschaft im Staate Indiana, 4 QM., im Osten durch den Ohio River vom Staat Kentucky getrennt, vom Laugherry Creek durchflossen; Producte: Mais, Weizen, Hafer; Rindvieh, Schweine, Pferde; 1844 organisirt. 1850: 5308 Ew.; Hauptort: Rising Sun.
